Newcastle v Norwich player ratings from fans – A reality check

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.
I think the fan ratings are difficult to argue with, apart from the odd exception.
Martin Dubravka (5.7) was clear man of the match and no arguments about that, though I think he deserved a far higher rating as without him the scoreline would have been a real shocker. The keeper totally exposed on all three goals as his defence went missing.
Isaac Hayden (5.3) was the only other starting player to get a rating of 4.0 or higher. The midfielder the best of a poor bunch and in Steve Bruce’s muddled tactics often ending up in a wide right role that doesn’t suit him, put in a great cross when Joelinton missed with a free header from seven yards out.
Speaking of which, Joelinton (2.2) was marked the very lowest, although in reality he was no better or worse tan many others, no doubt that miss when the game was goalless sending him to the very bottom.
Ki (2.3) was next lowest as he put in a totally anonymous display.
Three others were rated less than 3.0, with Emil Krafth (2.5) having a nightmare debut, at fault on the second and third goals.
Jamaal Lascelles (2.6) was poor and gave no leadership either, whilst Miguel Almiron (2.8) ran around a lot but was ineffective.
The other trio in the starting eleven were little/no better, with Fabian Schar (3.3) struggling along with the rest of the defence, Matt Ritchie rarely in the game, whilst Jonjo Shelvey (3.9) saw his lack of mobility expose by an energetic opposition – though he did score a decent goal in the final seconds.
As for the two subs, Muto (2.3) hardly touched the ball in his 23 minutes but Sean Longstaff (4.0) did improve matters slightly and put in a classy pass to set up Shelvey for the consolation goal.
