Fulham 1 Newcastle 1 A very good away display and only disappointment not all 3 points
Fulham 1 Newcastle 1 – Saturday 7 November 2026 3pm
A pretty even open start to the match and the first big moment a good save after a quarter of an hour by Hornicek from Bobb.
A few minutes later and Barnes came close to opening the scoring, he flicked on Murphy’s cross at the near post but Leno saving.
Just after the half hour mark two huge moments.
Harvey Barnes released behind the Fulham defence and running from the halfway line he did everything right, got the keeper to commit but as he swept the ball over him it hit Leno’s head and out for a corner.
A short corner taken and when the cross came in it was Dan Burn from close in, the referee though swiftly disallowing it, seemingly for a foul by Wissa.
Hornicek making a few saves in the opening half and another one just before half-time as he pushed away a strong strike.
A couple of minutes after the break and a sweeping move saw Dedic feed Wissa, squared it to Barnes just inside the penalty area and one of those where you expect it to hit the back of the net.
Similar to his goal at Palace but a bit more difficult and not as central, this time he swept it just past the right hand post.
On 70 minutes a very good team move and sweet low cross from Dedic that Osula just couldn’t reach for a tap in.
Sean Steur with a very good performance linking play and subbed off with 15 minutes left.
An end to end game and with 13 minutes of normal time remaining a low shot from sub Willock bounced awkwardly for Leno but he grabbed at the second attempt.
Only a minute or so later though…
A loose Fulham pass intercepted by Jacob Murphy and cutting between two defenders a super left footed 25 yarder giving Leno no chance!
A couple of minutes after the restart, 1-1.
Thiaw unlucky as he deflected the ball to Muniz in the box and it was a clever finish by the Fulham player BUT it needed a deflection off Burn to give Hornicek no chance.
A few minutes to go and Lewis Hall pops up in the box, plenty of goal to aim at but his low right foot shot just too close to Leno who got an outstretched hand to it.
Into added time and when a free-kick cleared to just outside the box, a volley from a Fulham player brilliantly saved by Hornicek.
The referee Rob Jones was absolutely shocking, as usual. Time after time Fulham getting the decisions.
I thought it was cruel on Matthias Jaissle and his players that they didn’t pick up all three points. Not a lot in it but Newcastle the better team in the second half and deserved to edge it.
A very decent away performance though and fair play to the NUFC Head Coach and his team.
