Only 610 QPR fans made the midweek trip up to St James but with live TV coverage, they could all see last night’s events unfold.
Newcastle twice taking the lead, late equalisers in each half, the visitors the better side in the first and Newcastle in the second – but what was the QPR fans view of what they saw?
Reading the comments below, the away fans certainly appear to be taking inspiration from Ian Holloway appearing to be turning things around in recent matches and with their January transfer activity.
As for the 90 minutes, the QPR fans were pleased with their own team’s performance though generally not that impressed by the home side.
Jonjo Shelvey though was picked out for special mention…
‘Awesome own goal.’
‘Smithies man of the match with heaps of saves.’
‘Played well for an hour but lucky to get something in the end- new men didn’t really add value tonight. But the attitude all round was superb!’
‘Deserved point in my opinion. Excellent performance.
Happy bunny here.’
‘Done Newcastle and Sunderland away few times football defo comes second best to the social up there.’
‘We should have taken the three points. They were on a plate for us.’
‘Apart from why on earth someone feels that black and white stripes clash with blue and white hoops and we have to wear that awful ‘non QPR’ kit I thought it was a great result.
To go a goal down, especially to Shelvey who took the pi** at LR had me saying ‘Not again’…..at that point I’d have put money on a similar scoreline.
But the movement was good, there was some good passing and were Lluongo able to take his chances we could well have gone in at the break in the lead.
There was lots of passion, lots of positive aggression and some of the Olly/Birch ‘heart on the sleeve’ seemed to have rubbed off. Heads didn’t go down.
Given that Smithies was MOM….I this rightly it does show that we were under the cosh at times, but what would we have expected at Newcastle?
But for a change we got in their faces and made them make mistakes. Whilst Newcastle looked very average I think we helped make them look that way and despite it being an OG, I felt that even an unbiased observer would have felt that a draw on the balance of both halves was a fair result.’
‘I still think we gave the ball away cheaply and did not take advantage when they gifted it to us. Had we done so and with Newcastle’s average form, I reckon we could have ripped them a new one.’
‘Can’t see why we stood off JJS again , the mug should have been booked for his afters with Mackie.’
‘JJS was lucky that he didn’t get a red, many others have and will for what he did. Got lucky luongo blocked refs view.’
‘Bidwell has been excellent recently, fantastic tackle on Yedlin (shame Yedlin wasn’t actually hurt when he decided to milk a tiny touch on a thigh) at the end and to stop a clear goal scoring chance.’
‘Farking have that on your chips you Geordie slllaaaaaggggsss!! Get in there !!!’
‘Shelvey is a real scumbag player who will get a really long suspension one day I think.’
‘Didn’t realise how dirty it was at the game. Saw it on the recording this morning, could have been red as he definitely kicked out.
He is a good player for them, they will struggle without him.
Nice to see lualua get the better of him to cross for the OG.’
‘Bloke’s a superb player but a real loose cannon. Only just back from a five game ban for racist abuse as well, and he kicks out like that. He got lucky.’
‘Guilty of celebrating at the end like we had won, I think most of us there were.
The Newcastle fans just sat in silence most of the game expecting a win and go top, don’t know how our fans sounded on tv but our support was loud and proud up in the gods.’
