Newcastle United fan/writer reaction after Newcastle 0 Everton 1

2 Nov 2026 - 23:23

Newcastle 0 Everton 1 – Monday 2 November 2026 8pm

Instant fan/writer reaction from some of our regular contributors on The Mag.

Nat Seaton:

‘I went to the match with optimism (even after Thursday night…) but it turned out to be misplaced.

This was our poorest performance so far, maybe I’m being harsh because of how disappointing the game was.

And as poorly as we played it was still only one goal and we could / should have had an equaliser, but that doesn’t hide the fact that it was a poor game of football.

Off to London for the match on Saturday, I keep saying it, but let’s hope for better…’

Greg McPeake:

‘I can honesty say I have never booed a Newcastle team.

I laughed at George Reilly and Billy Whitehurst…but that was about it.

Moyes did a job on us and schooled our manager.

Player for player no way are they better than us and in the second half we were close to getting a goal and if so momentum is everything.

If the Elanga chance had gone in, who knows?’

Billy Miller:

‘Woeful.

Worst performance of the season.

It shouldn’t have been a goal. No foul originally for the free kick and then Barry fouled Schar before scoring.

That being said, we defended the move appallingly and deserved nothing anyway.

Another miserable Monday.’

Jamie Smith:

‘Awful woeful performance filled with misplaced passes, clueless attacks and zero urgency.

Toure came on in the 85th minute and was a contender for man of the match.

Current feeling is that this looks like a relegation battle, serious concerns after the worst performance in a long time at SJP.’

Tony Mallabar:

‘I said after Thursday we are entering McClaren/Bruce territory…we are now in it.

Another clueless performance with absolutely no cutting edge.

Osula back to his best headless chicken routine and Ramsey stupidly getting himself sent off.

I genuinely don’t see any improvement and I said it after Leeds, this manager is way out of his depth.’

David Punton:

‘A narrow defeat but a defeat nonetheless.

That’s another game against the blue half of Merseyside where we’ve come up short.

For me, it raises questions about our manager’s future in the job.

He’s under pressure.

On another night we may have sneaked a draw.

The cherry on the cake was a late red card for Jacob Ramsey to compound the misery. He’s let us down there, big time.

The formation and the tactics are not really working.

Worrying times. It all has a weird feeling of the Mike Ashley era.’

Matt Busby said…:

‘This was a match against the side that humiliated us on Thursday so I expected a reaction.

We got nowt.

That keeper is a liability, I said it after the same mob turned us over at Murrayfield, and Toure did more in ten minutes than Barnes and Elanga combined.

Desperate times. Regression on a monumental scale.’

GToon:

‘Way way way out of his depth.

This bloke is absolutely clueless.

He is managing a team of decent players and turning them into the worst team we’ve seen for many a year.

Bruce is a better manager than this bloke. Jaisel out! And out now, not at Christmas.’
