Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron scores first goal in 10 months – Watch it here

Miguel Almiron had never scored for his country.

The 25 year old making 23 appearances for Paraguay without finding the net.

It is also exactly 10 months today since Miguel Almiron scored a goal for anybody, the 11 Novemeber 2018 saw him score in a 3-1 victory for Atlanta United over New York City.

Pressure building at Newcastle United where the attacking left-footed player is still to get a goal or an assist.

So an ideal time on Tuesday to get on the scoresheet.

Paraguay trailing 2-1 to Jordan and the Miguel Almiron off the bench on 68 minutes.

Six minutes later and Paraguay were level.

Almiron has been told he needs to get in the box more to help give Newcastle more of a goal threat and here he is arriving at the far post to head home a deep cross like a centre-forward.

Hopefully a massive weight off his shoulders and back with Newcastle it will help him play with a bit more freedom and release the goals.

Rojas scored within a minute of Almiron’s goal to make it a complete turn around from 2-0 down to 3-2 up, with then a last minute goal confirming a 4-2 away win for Paraguay

You can watch all the goals below (Almiron’s is at 2.21) and to be fair, with Paraguay’s first three goals coming from headers, Jordan maybe aren’t the best at defending crosses.

As you can see, the goalkeeper catches Miguel Almiron as he scores and leaves the Newcastle player limping but he did see out the final 16 minutes of the game, so hopefully no lasting harm done.
