Biography
Bazoumana Touré joined Newcastle United in July 2026 as one of the most highly sought-after young attacking talents in European football.
Born in Bouaké, Ivory Coast, Touré took his early steps in football on the streets of Abidjan’s Anoumabo district with local side Magic System FC. He soon earned a spot in the academy of ASEC Mimosas—Ivory Coast’s premier football academy. Breaking into ASEC’s first team as a teenager and lifting a league title, he followed the familiar talent pathway from West Africa to Scandinavia, joining Swedish side Hammarby IF in early 2024.
His rapid adaptation in Sweden, marked by eight goals in 23 appearances, prompted Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim to move quickly for his signature in early 2025. In Germany, Touré’s stock skyrocketed. During a breakout 2025–26 campaign, he racked up five goals and nine assists, anchoring Hoffenheim’s push to a fifth-place finish and Europa League qualification while establishing himself in the Ivory Coast senior squad at both AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bazoumana joined Newcastle for a fee of £42 million in July 2026, this represented a major coup over competing European clubs.
