Biography
Sold for £35m on deadline day in January 2011, after scoring 11 goals in 19 Premier League games that season. Eight and a half years later that remained the Gateshead born striker’s most productive season so far. Returning on deadline day August 2019 as a free agent, whether it will be returning local hero or zero, will largely depend on whether the forward can get and stay fit.
