Sir Alex Ferguson chooses Newcastle United for special accolade

A five man panel comprising of Sir Alex Ferguson, Dave Basset, Barry Fry, Howard Wilkinson and Joe Royle have agreed that Newcastle United should pick up a special award.

The League Managers panel, comprising were in agreement that the Performance of the Week Award should go to Newcastle United after their excellent 2 – 1 victory against league leader Chelsea.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel who have managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football, must have had one of their easiest weeks possible, with United ending Chelsea’s 23 match unbeaten run.

To mark the award, Alan Pardew will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by silversmiths Thomas Lyte of London,  at a special presentation to commemorate the award.

The accolade is announced on the same day that it has been revealed that Alan Pardew is nominated for Premier League November manager of the month and Daryl Janmaat for player of the month.
