Claims of £15m transfer move for Moussa Sissoko

It is claimed that Arsenal are preparing a bid of around £15m for Moussa Sissoko.

The Times are reporting that the Gunners are looking to make a bid in January as they have Wilshere out for three months with his latest injury and Arteta with ongoing injury problems.

With Arsenal already through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, a player like Moussa Sissoko is extra valuable as he will be available due to not having taken part in European competition this season.

Much was made at the time of Sissoko signing an extra long six and a half year contract taking him up to June 2019.

However, the midfielder’s agent Frederic Guerra claimed earlier this year that Sissoko’s contract was up in June 2016.

With contracts appearing to be anything but straightforward these days, the agent may have been referring to a clause that would allow the player to move at that point if he chose to do so.

Contracts only really exist for one reason anyway and that is to ensure the selling club maximise the fee they get, as if a player is desperate to move then there is little that can be done to stop them moving.

However, let’s hope that Mike Ashley shows ambition in January’s transfer market to persuade any of United’s better players that the club are ambitious.
