2 Newcastle players in top 10 Premier League hardest working players

Great to see two Newcastle players in the list of the top ten hardest working players in the Premier League.

The Opta stats show these are the ten players to have covered most ground in the Premier League this season.

The two United players are Daryl Janmaat and Jack Colback.

Colback deserves a special mention because while eight of these on the list have played all 14 matches, Colback (Burnley) and Schneiderlin have missed one each and both would have easily been over the 100 miles mark if they’d had that extra game.

101.96 miles Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea) aged 27

101.22 miles Nemanja Matic (Chelsea) 26

100.12 miles Jake Livermore (Hull) 25

99.05 miles Ki Sung-Yueng (Swansea) 25

97.26 miles Steven M’Zonzi (Stoke) 25

96.80 miles Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea) 25

94.28 miles Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton) 25

93.68 miles Daryl Janmaat (Newcastle) 25

93.62 miles Jack Colback (Newcastle) 25

93.39 miles Dusan Tadic (Southampton) 26

Daryl Janmaat really stands out as well because he is the only player in the list who isn’t a midfielder, showing the massive workrate he puts in compared to others in his position.

You might have noticed that Saturday’s opponents Chelsea have the top two in the list but the good news is that Nemanja Matic is suspended for the visit to Tyneside.

Also interesting to see the age of the players, all of them are between 25 and 27 years old, suggesting that is the age when players are physically at their prime with stamina/fitness so important in the Premier League.
