The bare minimum punishment must surely be a seven match ban but with his number of offences growing I think there is surely an overwhelming case for something far longer. Plus of course it should be a no-brainer that Sarez must wear a muzzle whenever he steps onto a football pitch again.
Then in November 2010, during a match against PSV, Suarez bit opposition player, Otman Bakkal, on the shoulder. This led to revulsion throughout the Netherlands with the Dutch press branding him the ‘Cannibal Of Ajax’.
Newcastle United, the media, sponsors, players and fans of the Beautiful Game should demand, and not rest until they receive, an unequivocal yes or no answer to the question: did any FA match official see the incident, did any FA match official see McManaman’s studs being embedded into Haidara’s leg above the knee?
While of course we have had instances in the past such as Jamie Carragher throwing coins back into the crowd and he wasn’t even charged with misconduct by the FA. Fans (quite rightly) can be banned for life but what about the players?
