We are both deep in it and if Wigan win at home to Swansea on Tuesday it would put the mackems bottom three if Stoke took all three points. On a less happier note, a win for Wigan and anything for the mackems and it will be us in the bottom three on Tuesday night.
Before the Villa match we highlighted our top tip as being a sporting bet on Newcastle to finish in the Top Ten, as the juicy 8/1 odds were calling us. With United now only three points behind tenth placed Stoke, who we play next week, the odds not surprisingly have dramatically tumbled.
Only a mad person would be now aiming at the top six for Newcastle United but with this belated influx of very good players such as Debuchy, Mapou and Sissoko, is a respectable top half position now totally out of the question?
