Furthermore, in the midweek matches, Newcastle were one of only two teams to lose despite covering more ground than the opposition. United covered 65 miles compared to 63.9 for Stoke.
It has been a massive waste of the great opportunity presented by last season’s gatecrashing of the top five. To not bring in a single player who can create and/or score goals is a joke…and not a very funny one.
Alan Pardew was understandably gutted/sick as a parrot after the defeat at the Britannia Stadium and after the match went through blow by blow as to why he thought Newcastle deserved to win.
Newcastle rediscovered a bit of pride and self-belief tonight but no points. Hopefully the players can take on this performance and the points will begin to flow on Monday…
Alan Pardew might have had limited options with his available personnel tonight but he has still come up with the odd surprise, going for experience in his starting eleven.
Maybe with the likes of Peter Crouch haunting the place it has backfired. If Newcastle can just find a goal from somewhere before the opposition do, we will come away with something tonight.
I struggle to suggest a definitive choice as to who should fill the last 2 or 3 places in the team and that sums up the weakness of our squad. As always though, the eleven players out there tonight will have our full support.
