An ‘open’ game saw NUFC win an eleven goal thriller 8-3, with the Northumberland Xl going four down before they brought the score back to 4-3.

Team Manager for the night will be John Carver and he takes the following squad including comeback man Massadio Haidara

A Newcastle United XI will take on a side chosen by Stephen Harmison on Thursday 10 October at Ashington Football Club as part of the Durham and England cricket star’s benefit year.

During that tour, Stephen reached his full potential recording what would be his career best bowling figures. It was an important feat in the lead up to England’s greatest recent summer and the 2005 Ashes win on home soil.

I, like all Newcastle fans, am keen to see the Club do well on and off the field and for the Club to work with its fans and the wider community for the benefit of the whole Club and city – which is something I know that the Trust has been doing for years.”

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation has been named as Durham County Cricket Club’s Stephen Harmison’s Benefit charity for 2013.
