Newcastle dominated possession but were far too reliant on Ben Arfa to provide any direct attacking impetus in the first 60 minutes. The introduction of Gouffran and Remy added to Newcastle’s ability to run direct against a Fulham side who were set out to try and get a point from Tyneside.
During the first half as United struggled to create and Hatem was shooting on sight, Newcastle broke with Ben Arfa and Sissoko showed an unbelievable burst of speed to go in an arc from left to right and give Hatem an easy ball for Sissoko to get in behind them…obviously Ben Arfa shot instead!
The older gent asking us younger(?) lads if we were planning on doing a runner, myself checking that there were no childlocks on the rear doors while making sure I didn’t get stuck in the middle seat and the driver telling us he’d dropped some bloke off at a Gosforth tattoo parlour who he reckoned was Gomis. Obviously that’s the first thing a potential new signing would do in town.
