I was amazed to see Newcastle edged possession but in every other department they were a clear second best. Maybe the day best summed up by the fact that it took an Everton player to give us that consolation goal.
The possession stats look decent but I’m guessing if you divided the pitch into three parts then the ball would have been in our third an awful lot more than the opposite end.
I think actually by the end Newcastle might even have had as many chances as the home team but that is all a bit immaterial when your first opportunity doesn’t appear until you are four down!
I can’t remember Tim Krul having to make a save which sums up Newcastle’s domination, though according to the Stoke manager, Walters could and should have had a hat-trick.
Swansea midfielder Britton touted as ‘the most accurate passer in Europe’! Reality is that he isn’t hitting 60 yard defence splitting balls, he’s dropping back and doing half a dozen one-twos with his goalkeeper and centre-backs!
