Loic Remy has an excellent shooting accuracy of 60% and has converted 35% of his chances, while little surprise to see that Papiss Cisse has the worst accuracy in the team with only 36% of chances on target and he’s also missed all four of his clear-cut opportunities.
It is what makes football the best and worst of sports for the fans, one team can do just about everything right but they come up against a quality keeper like Tim Krul on one of his ‘better’ days.
Yes, Villa may have had a little more possession and a couple more corners but when it comes to the key factors, Newcastle United were on another level.
All in all though the stats suggest we shouldn’t be frightened of the opposition and I fancy Newcastle can go there and get a deserved draw, especially after the defensive quality we showed over three goalless (conceded) hours against Metalist.
I think it has to be credit to Alan Pardew for the way he set his team out but the individual mistakes let him down and surely point to a lack of quality in his players and not his system.
Alan Pardew; “They’ve watched some football that hasn’t been our best but the last five games, two wins in the the last four Premier League games, they are starting to look the right sort of stats now”.
