Shane Ferguson has started twice as many matches for his country as Premier League games for Newcastle but still has two years of five year contract left.

Well all I can say on that is I haven’t spoken to a single Newcastle fans in recent weeks who believes there is any real commitment by Mike Ashley to try and make Loic Remy’s stay a permanent one. This despite Remy looking like our only real goal threat in most of the matches so far.

The one player who I have no doubt will join that list as ‘long-term signed’ is Demba Ba, he has two years to run and I have no doubt the club are working to tie him down and also eradicate any possible ‘cheap’ get out clause.
