Newcastle United quickly followed up today’s official confirmation of Steve McClaren as new head coach, with one that named a new look board of directors.

Can’t help but wonder that now Derek Llambias and Barry Leach have left Rangers, whether Mike Ashley will bring in his two loyal henchmen.

The reality is of course that price is not the only important thing and of course brings to mind the immortal saying about knowing ‘The price of everything and the value of nothing’. Back in the days of Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson, there was little trouble selling tickets even though in real terms tickets were generally more expensive back in those days.

Many of you may say ‘well so what, I’m just bothered about what happens on the pitch’ and of course we’d all rather be watching Newcastle roar to the top of the league on the pitch than be sitting here discussing if it is possible to run a Premier League football club with one man and his dog.

Maybe Chris Hughton was similarly ‘liaised/consulted’ with when he was sacked for leading Newcastle back into the Premier League, or Kevin Keegan when he welcomed Dennis Wise in as his boss!
