No buys in the summer and amongst other problems such as Cisse and Wonga, our recently crowned king wanted to be away to Arsenal and this only months after finally getting his best mate Debuchy over the line and over to Newcastle. The French dream was beginning to smell a bit like one of their ripe cheeses.
In fact the Newcastle fans were so disgusted with the attitude of the players from across the channel, that they insisted on voting Ben Arfa and Gouffran second and third respectively, in our man of the match vote yesterday.
You have to also say that after his sending off against Arsenal in the League Cup, halfway through his first season, Ginola was never quite the same and much of the time you would have said that he looked as if he…didn’t care.
With only one and a half goalscorers (Cisse and Gouffran), Alan Pardew has to find a way to get Cabaye further up the pitch so he can influence the play in dangerous positions.
If he’d said it was to grab headlines and help his bosses sell more papers/get more coverage I’d be more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt, however Edwards has claimed that he actually did it for the good of the club!
