Get along and support the kids tonight (7pm kick-off) as Newcastle United under 18s continue their quest for the FA Youth Cup as they take on Blackburn Rovers at St.James’ Park for a place in the semi-finals.
United went 2 down to their local rivals only for Dennis Knight to pull one back from the penalty spot. Things looked bleak when Knight was given his marching orders with 20 minutes left, only for Lewis Gibbons to grab an unlikely equaliser for ten man Newcastle.
At St.James’ Park tonight, United’s under 18 side managed to reach the 6th round of the FA Youth Cup despite falling behind to a first half goal from the visitors.
A late equaliser by Campbell and a Hooper winner in extra time sent the kids through.
If the NUFC youths beat QPR they will be at home to Blackburn or Stoke.
That quarter-final match would of course also be played at St.James’ Park and as well as the obvious benefits from progressing in the competition a massive bonus every game the kids get to play at SJP..
