Former Newcastle winger Damien Duff’s career could be over after a double injury blow, though won’t be much sympathy from Newcastle fans.

I obviously don’t feel sorry for them but when you have true greats like Barca’s Xavi (£17.5m) and four times Champions League winner Clarence Seedorf (£18m) behind players such as Duff, you know there is something seriously wrong with the English Premier League in terms of rewarding players for very little.

Duff rubbed it in by stating an intention to stay after Newcastle’s relegation, only to then jump ship to Fulham just weeks after that initial statement.
