I can’t believe that there are still some fans who can’t accept just how low Newcastle have sunk these days – a lack of quality right through the club.
Last summer I would like to think United would have had a great chance of landing such an up and coming talent having just finished fifth in the Premier League. I can only think though that the current speculation is being given oxygen by journalists close to the club.
While Alan Pardew has ruled out a move for one of Vurnon Anita’s former colleagues, twenty year old winger Jody Lukoki, he has confirmed that Newcastle are interested in signing Marseille’s striker, Loic Remy.
Lukoki is a Dutch Under 21 international, though born in Zaire (now known as the Democratic Republic Of Congo) who can play on the wing or behind the main striker and has scored three goals in fourteen matches to date this season.
The latest round of events have seen Ajax make an enhanced contract offer to the player, which according to the Dutch press (De Telegraaf), Anita has now turned down.
Another of Newcastle United’s long running Summer transfer pursuits could be hotting up again, with reports in Holland that Newcastle are prepared to pay around 9.5m Euros for the versatile Vurnon Anita of Ajax.
A graduate of the Ajax Academy, he could help NUFC in developing a possession based approach to help them compete with the likes of Man City and Man United.
The video footage we are putting in front of you today shows Anita in action for Ajax but for a left-back/holding midfielder he looks to have a cultured right foot, can go past people AND score cracking goals.
