Senegal’s chances of qualifying for the AFCON now seem extremely slim with the likes of Drogba, Toure, Gervinho and Newcastle’s own Cheick Tiote standing in their way.
This year the period of Ramadan begins on 20th July and lasts until….18th August, the day Newcastle United and Papiss Cisse are currently scheduled to kick off the new season.
Cheick Tiote is off on his travels again as the Ivory Coast play a friendly against Guinea on Wednesday night. A bit bizarre that meaningless friendlies are being organised only a couple of weeks after the African Cup of Nations ended.
Good luck tonight to Cheick Tiote who could become the latest Newcastle United player to win a medal (I seem to remember Newcastle signing Stephane Guivarc’h before France lifted the World Cup in ’98, so I don’t know if he would count as the last?).
