Pardew needs to stamp his authority on a team that looks increasingly clueless, unimaginative and one-dimensional. He can no longer afford to rely on moments of brilliance from match-winning mavericks like Ba and Ben Arfa.
There are claims this morning that Newcastle United are in advanced talks with French International striker, Loic Remy. Remy has been largely out of favour this season but in the previous two seasons scored 37 goals in 83 club appearances.
What I will judge Ashley on, however, is whether or not he holds up his hands, admits his gamble didn’t pay off, and puts his hands in his pockets in January. Players that he could (and should) have signed in the summer will now cost more but that’s the risk he took and the price he’ll now have to pay.
I say thanks for the Goals, thanks for the 7million, take your syrup and see ya. I say to Danny Simpson, sign or go. I would prefer to go and get players who have made it known that they want to play for the club.
The facts are there for all to see, we’re playing rubbish this year with pretty much the same players who did so well last year, so Pardew has to accept his portion of the blame for our current plight.
Alan Shearer; “Newcastle missed a huge opportunity in the summer. Having punched above their weight last season and almost made it into the top four, this was the time to spend. The club was up and running again after so many years mired in uncertainty”.
This looks more than likely to be a literal word for word ‘translation’ that doesn’t exactly translate what Ba means. Leave the last word with Demba himself; “I would love to see people’s nose grow like Pinocchio when they lie”.
Yes Newcastle lost again. Yes we gave away soft avoidable goals again – but the spirit and intensity versus Man City was first class and the question has to be asked as to where that has been all season?!
