We could see ourselves easily safe by the time March comes along and then the Europa League would become our No.1 objective. Do you know where we finished in the league in 1969? Do you care? Of course not.

If we have a good season next year, Pardew will get the time off the fans. If he has one like this year, the fans will rightfully call for his head and give Ashley and Llambias a decision to make. If he actually manages to win something like Alex Ferguson did in his third full season, then he can stay as long as he wants.

We have new players. A new outlook. A new team almost. Just one more striker would see our squad have strength in depth with quality in each position across the board. In my eyes Bafetimbi Gomis fits the bill on every level. Will it happen?

Let’s be honest we’ve only just got rid of one blatant mercenary in Demba Ba, to replace him with another one would be damaging long-term. We went through transfer speculation hell with our No.19 and I don’t want to go through that again with another ‘big time charlie’.

Most people were confused and concerned as to why Alan Pardew was even in the dugout that night two years ago as Chris Hughton was doing a sterling job in our first season back in the Premier League.

Watching ‘The Immovable Object’ this season has been a chore. I don’t know what the hell has happened to him. He has been more of a liability this season than an asset.
