Without the support of the Newcastle faithful, there may be no Women’s team in the City going forward. The club should be up there with the likes of Sunderland and Durham, but without support from the men’s team, it’s going to be difficult.
“It’s been a long, hard journey but we persevered together as a family and it’s paid off. We did it, we’re champions!”
Each woman pays £200+ to play for the club without sponsorship & most of the girls are in full-time education and it is a struggle for them to find the money to play the game they love.
A tremendous achievement, multiple players winning leagues with multiple teams, it shows the commitment and passion our girls have for the game of football.
Whilst the Newcastle United men’s team go about securing European football for next season, the Women’s side are already celebrating a wonderful season.
