We have lost our 7 out of 10 Newcastle United players, well all but one anyway

I think a lot of fans are failing to recognise the reality with these Newcastle United players.

It is tunnel vision for so many Newcastle fans with Matthias Jaissle.

The media are obviously very much feeding this of course, or is that lighting the fuse?

Journalists and their bosses wanting to inflame the club’s supporters, their potential customers, by wanting to make this all about Matthias Jaissle.

A sack him or back him type of thing. Constantly putting the NUFC Head Coach in the firing line is so obviously cynically done on so many occasions.

Reality is though that we have lost out 7 out of 10 Newcastle United players.

The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali who were of a level where unless they had a huge off day, which happened very rarely, they were still 7 out of 10s.

Kieran Trippier the same before age caught up with them, I would also say Fabian Schar as well but he turns 35 very soon and is no longer automatic first choice.

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon were also 7 out of 10s but a little different than Bruno and Tonali. As in, because they were flair players and relied largely on service, they weren’t 7 out of 10 every match, but over a season they were elite players who when averaged out were guaranteed to be 7 out of 10 and more!

Now we have Lewis Hall, he is our only guaranteed 7 out of 10 and is an elite player who is levels above the rest of the squad now.

Under Eddie Howe we did have other Newcastle United players who could regularly score 7 out of 10 or better at times, indeed have runs of them, BUT they had to massively work at it to do so.

As in, the likes of Murphy, Willock, Longstaff, Almiron, Joelinton and indeed Burn, they have to play at their very best to be at a similar level to those more naturally gifted players.

Reality is that now pretty much all the Newcastle United players have to be at their very best in a match to be good enough.

Sometimes they manage it, sometimes they don’t.

If they all manage it together we can still potentially give anyone a game.

If though they all fail to do so we are in trouble. If some are and some aren’t then could go either way in a game.

I think this is the reality of the season so far and will continue to be so.
