Premier League formlines since November international break tell you so much

24 Jan 2026 - 16:20

Interesting when you look at the formlines of the 20 Premier League teams since the November international break.

Very early on in the season, Eddie Howe had said that with such a difficult pre-season, it could take until around that point for him to get his squad fully up to speed and integrated.

As we all know, Alexander Isak and Liverpool’s conduct caused all sorts of problems for the Newcastle United boss.

That and the fact only one of the six eventual Newcastle United signings in the summer had any kind of a pre-season with their new NUFC teammates, made it so difficult to hit the 2025/26 season running.

Eddie Howe has now been talking about the United form since the November internationals.

The Newcastle United Head Coach stating ahead of this weekend: “I think since the November international break,[from] the Manchester City game, I’ve seen an upturn in performances generally. We have been much more consistent. In that [November] break we did a lot of work, probably the only time we have been able to train in recent months.”

Ahead of this weekend’s matches, there had been 11 rounds of Premier League matches since the November 2025 international break.

Number of points picked up by Premier League teams since November 2025 internationals in last 11 rounds of PL matches (ahead of Saturday 24 January 2026):

25 Aston Villa
22 Arsenal
21 Newcastle United, Man City
20 Fulham
18 Liverpool
17 Everton, Man U, Brentford
14 Chelsea. Leeds, Brighton, Sunderland
13 Forest
11 Palace
9 Spurs, Bournemouth
7 West Ham
6 Wolves
4 Burney

As you can see, only Aston Villa and Arsenal picking up more points than Newcastle United since the November international break.

Newcastle United picking 21 points in the last eleven rounds of Premier League matches:

Played 11 Won 6 Drawn 3 Lost 2

Very different to the opening 11 Premier League rounds of matches for Newcastle United:

Played 11 Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 5

The schedule has remained relentless, matches every midweek as well as weekends. However, as Eddie Howe predicted, he would need that time denied him in pre-season, to get his new look squad fully integrated and up to speed.

The past week also saw a report published that saw Newcastle United leading all 20 Premier League teams when it came to the number of days lost to injuries for the various first team squad players. Which makes this recent couple of months form all the more impressive.
