Newcastle United owners have made decision to cap memberships

The Newcastle United owners have made a big decision on memberships.

When the official 2022/23 NUFC memberships went on sale on 30 June 2022, there was an instant online queue of between one and two hours for those hoping to buy them.

I saw a fair few fans were saying what’s the rush, you can buy them any time.

Well, apparently not. The Newcastle United owners have now decided to sell no more adult memberships for the 2022/23 season, declaring them sold out. There are only a limited number of Junior (ages 0-13) memberships left.

So this means that if you are an adult and haven’t so far got a membership (or season ticket), you won’t be able to try and buy any of the bulk of match by match tickets when they go on sale ahead of each game. The only small chance for those without memberships, is that this season the club are selling an unspecified ‘limited amount’ of match by match tickets in a general sale (details for tickets on sale for early NUFC Premier League games are detailed below). This is apparently to comply with Premier League rules of having to make a small number of tickets available to the general public.

With tickets selling out very quickly for the Nottingham Forest match, some of those that had bought memberships did question whether the club should keep on selling more of them (memberships), when it was already so competitive to try and buy tickets.

FRIENDLIES

As for the upcoming home friendlies, tickets are still on sale (details below) for the Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao games at St James’ Park.

Looking at the club’s ticketing site, I would guesstimate that so far around 34,000 tickets have been sold for the Friday night Atalanta match, with around 41,000 sold for Athletic Bilbao one on the Saturday afternoon.

However, whilst there are currently a decent number of tickets left for the two games, there is a deadline of 5pm on Tuesday 19 July (tomorrow) if you wanted to take advantage of the package price if you bought for both friendlies, saving a fiver if you take the deal by 5pm tomorrow.
