Premier League transfer window hots up – 13 deals and £225m spent including Monday action
The Premier League transfer window officially opened on Friday 10 June.
The 20 Premier League clubs then having until 11pm on Thursday 1 September before the window closes, to bring in new players.
Twelve weeks (eighty four days) in total to get business done, although of course a number of deals, including Matt Targett to Newcastle United, announced ahead of the window officially opening. Those deals to be officially registered once the transfer window opened and for any arrivals from overseas, they will be officially registered on Friday 1 July 2022.
Today (Monday 13 June) is the fourth day of the Premier League transfer window and a major leap forward, in terms of money committed.
We are now at the point where 13 incoming signings by Premier League clubs have been confirmed (listed below), with some £260m committed already in initial transfer fees.
The much anticipated Erling Haaland deal has now been officially announced on Monday, with Manchester City reported to have paid an initial £51m transfer fee, although this is only one small part of what is a massive deal. With German media reported that the total cost of signing Erling Haaland will be at least £257m, once salary, agent fees and bonuses are included.
Meanwhile, Benfica have confirmed that agreement has been reached with Liverpool for 22 year old striker Darwin Nunez.
Benfica saying that a fee of £64m guaranteed, with this rising to a potential £85m if certain add-ons are triggered.
With an earlier start and a World Cup mid-season, there are 16 rounds of Premier League matches to fit in by 13 November 2022, by comparison, last (2021/22) season Newcastle United had played 11 games by 19 November 2021.
So every incentive for clubs to get Premier League signings in as early as possible this time.
Certainly in time for pre-season preparations starting if at all possible (the Newcastle United first team squad report back on 1 July).
