Newcastle United in fight for £17.6m

Only ten days now until Newcastle United end their 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

It has certainly been an…interesting one.

After having had to play the two outstanding teams going for the title in the most recent games, Newcastle United now have a pair of games to end the season where they can be expected to be more competitive.

The final home game against an Arsenal side chasing fourth, whilst the very last game of the season is at relegation threatened Burnley.

After Wednesday night’s results (Leeds 0 Chelsea 3, Leicester 3 Norwich 0, Watford 0 Everton 0, Wolves 1 Man City 5). this is how the Premier League table looks on Thursday morning:

Premier League Table 12 May 2022Newcastle United can’t finish top eight or bottom three.

However, despite only two games and ten days of the season remaining, it is remarkable that Newcastle United can still end up anywhere between ninth and seventeenth in the Premier League table.

As part of the share out of Premier League cash, each league position is worth £2.2m, so Newcastle United are still playing for £17.6m, the difference between potentially finishing seventeenth and ninth, or somewhere in between.

How quickly Newcastle United can progress under Eddie Howe and the new club ownership, depends on many factors, with money at the heart of so much of that, plus of course having the best people in position to make decisions.

The challenge is on now, with these NUFC players needing to finish the season well, not just for their own satisfaction, but also to help generate as much extra cash as possible to help when it comes to strengthening the team / squad.
