Since Dan Burn stepped onto the pitch, Newcastle United haven’t conceded more than one goal in a game.

His seven starts seeing only five goals leaked as United have looked so much better at the back.

Dan Burn was one of four nominations for the Newcastle United Player of the Month for March.

With fans voting on the four nominations and the Geordie defender getting more than half the votes cast.

Dan Burn lifting the March award as he helped NUFC to wins over Southampton and Brighton, plus Newcastle unlucky to lose to late goals at both Chelsea and Everton.

Newcastle United official announcement – 30 March 2022:

Dan Burn is the FUN88 Player of the Month for March.

The Ashington-born, Blyth-raised defender joined his boyhood club from Brighton & Hove Albion in January and won man of the match on his debut against Aston Villa the following month.

In March, he played in all four of United’s games as the Magpies beat Brighton and Southampton and lost at Chelsea and Everton, and his excellent performances saw him gain 53 per cent of the supporters’ vote.

Bruno Guimarães was the runner-up with 25 per cent of the vote, with Fabian Schär and Matt Targett also nominated for the monthly prize.

Burn said: “It’s very special to win the award – and I have to thank my family for voting loads of times!

“It’s been an amazing couple of months since I’ve been here, it could barely have gone better, and I’m glad that people have thought I’ve been playing well. Hopefully I can carry that on towards the end of the season and keep the momentum going.

“Nothing’s done yet, so we’ll try to get safe as soon as possible. We’ve got some tough games coming up and we just need to keep on picking up results.”
