Alan Pardew made favourite for manager’s job

Alan Pardew walked out on Newcastle United back in December 2014.

It has been a tale of management woe for him ever since.

However, a new challenge could be at hand, as Alan Pardew has been made favourite for the job at AFC Wimbledon.

The League One club parted company with manager Mark Robinson on Monday and now the former NUFC boss is heavily fancied to replace him.

Bookies (Paddy Power) making Alan Pardew 4/1 favourite ahead of Darren Ferguson who is 7/1.

Currently in exile in Bulgaria as an adviser to CSKA Sofia, the job would allow Alan Pardew a return to his native London.

Although it looks quite a challenge.

AFC Wimbledon haven’t won any of their last twenty league matches and have lost all of their last five.

They are currently fourth bottom (four go down from League One) and if fifth bottom Fleetwood win their game in hand, it means AFC Wimbledon would be four points from safety.

If Alan Pardew did get this job, it would mean a return to the third tier, which was where he was at in his very last job before Mike Ashley made him his stooge / patsy at St James Park in 2010. Pardew replaced Hughton despite having been sacked by then third tier Southampton in his last job. Alan Pardew promised fans that Andy Carroll was going nowhere, then he was sold only weeks after taking over.

A disaster at Palace and West Brom, Alan Pardew won only one game at his final manager’s job (so far) Den Haag before moving on from there in 2020 and ending up in his present post as an adviser out in Bulgaria for CSKA Sofia.
