Simon Jordan thinks it would be hilarious if Newcastle United are relegated

Simon Jordan has been talking about Newcastle United and the possibility of relegation.

The failed football club owner saying that whilst some people are saying it would be a ‘tragedy’, he thinks it will be ‘funny’ if NUFC go down this season.

Simon Jordan though insists that if this hilarious (to him) thing does happen, Newcastle United will come back up.

The Talksport pundit’s mate Mike Ashley managed to somehow relegate Newcastle United twice in his first eight Premier League seasons and both times the Magpies came straight back up as champions.

If indeed Newcastle did go down this season, as fans we all know who will be to blame and it won’t be the new owners or Eddie Howe. Instead, that honour would go to the former owner and Steve Bruce, who have passed on a total mess that needs sorting, having failed totally to ensure there was a properly balanced and strong enough squad to do the job this season. Numerous people talk about how with the players in the current squad, Newcastle have a Championship level defence, well that can only be the fault of Ashley and Bruce.

It would be quite the ultimate leaving present wouldn’t it, if Mike Ashley does make it a hat-trick of Newcastle United relegations from the 13 Premier League seasons he started.

Simon Jordan though insists he likes Newcastle fans and wants them to be ‘successful’, whilst at the same time he wants the NUFC owners to be ‘unsuccessful’…well Simon, I’m afraid these two things are inextricably linked.

Simon Jordan gives as a reason for wanting the new NUFC ownership to fail, that they are not ‘for the best interest in football’, I wonder exactly where all these clubs owners are, who ARE  for the best interests of football?

They certainly aren’t in the Premier League, with the possible exception of rock bottom Norwich, owned and ran by fans of the club.

As for the rest…all in it for themselves, that is all. Just look at the shamed six, twice in the last year or so the self -appointed elite half dozen have twice tried to steal football, simply to make themselves richer and more powerful, yet got laughable punishments when making their attempts to take power.

We will see who will be laughing last in the years to come…

Simon Jordan speaking on Talksport:

“People say it is an absolute tragedy if Newcastle get relegated, it is not a tragedy, it is funny.

“Newcastle will bounce back because they will have the resources.

“I would find it funny, but not long-term, because I like Newcastle fans and want them to be successful.

“I couldn’t care about the ownership model, I want them to have as little success as possible.

“I don’t like the nature of it or what it represents.

“I don’t believe they are for the best interest in football and a whole raft of other things.

“I think a lot of people would too [laugh out loud if Newcastle United were relegated], but not for the fans, they would be collateral damage.”
