Manchester United fans comments before AND after drawing 1-1 with Newcastle United

Manchester United fans were looking forward to their first match in 16 days.

The Old Trafford club having applied successfully to the Premier League to have both the away game at Brentford and home to Brighton called off, due to positive Covid cases.

Ralf Rangnick and his players travelling to Newcastle United for an 8pm kick-off on Monday night.

Ahead of the match, Manchester United fans had plenty to say.

As you can see below, not short of confidence, though you might think of it as more…arrogance.

Interesting then to see what they had to say after the game as well.

You may spot a ‘slight’ change of tone…

Manchester United fans commenting via their Red Cafe message board PRE-MATCH and POST-MATCH:

‘Newcastle are awful, no excuses not to win.’

We better smash these lot. They gotta go down and the thought of giving them points is horrifying.’

‘We should be winning this easily…’

‘No excuse to not win. Send these to the championship.’

‘Saint Maximillion scares me.’

‘I hope we play well and win without fuss.’

‘We have to beat these lot because they’re cr.p.’

‘I think every game United play right now is a battle and United fans need to be realistic regarding expectations and respect every team. When was the last time we thrashed a team 3-4 goals to nill? Months ago.’

‘Problem was Newcastle came with the fire we were hoping to see. That energy of ours pretty much disappeared in the second half anyway.’

‘If you think ralf doesn’t have the players to beat newcastle you have lost your mind. yesterday was down to ralfs coaching and tactics not being good enough, he needs to dramatically improve.’

‘Newcastle have won 2 games all year.’

‘That was some ugly sh.t.

‘Varane and Maguire both were abject.

If Maguire were any slower he’d be a literal statue. It’s not only his “running” that is slow, it’s his speed of thought, his decision making, it’s so labored and obvious. Newcastle had him completely worked out today. I honestly don’t see what people rate him for, he’s average at best.’

‘I rate Conte higher than Rangnick…

Ole had a much better start.’

‘As a disinterested observer, I was struck by how ponderous Man Utd were when moving the ball.’

‘We’ve stolen a draw there.’

‘We have been sh.te no matter the formation for the better part of 6 years now because the attitude of our overpaid prima donnas sucks big time.

I absolutely don’t think there is any manager who can fix this team right now as long as we have a culture at the club where players just switch off or moan after losing a ball.’

‘C’mon United, get a grip and play for the badge and the millions of supporters out here.’

‘We’ll be out of the FA cup at the first hurdle if we carry on like this. Decent v Palace and very lucky against Norwich and F.cking Newcastle.’

‘Lucky to come away with a point.

Oh well.

We could have had Conte and watched a boring 3-0 win.’

‘Disgraceful! De Gea is the only player worth his wage.’

‘City destroyed Newcastle a week ago. How the hell are we so bad.’

‘I feel for those on here who thought we’d put in a rock n roll performance and blow Newcastle away, it was never on cards.’

‘Terrible performance. Lucky to get the point.’

‘Disgraceful. F.cking embarrassing.’

‘A f.cking draw against this sh.te. Beyond livid.’

‘ Cavani. Ronaldo. And off.’

‘Ffs we couldn’t even beat Newcastle. Horrendous football match, horrendous performance.

Shameful. We’re such a pointless football club.’

Newcastle, big game Charlie’s.’

‘I have checked out.

This team needs to have a lot of its players booted out.

We need a lot of players.

We need 10 new players basically.’

‘I preferred the 16 days where we didn’t play football.’

‘This is having spent £450m in the last three or four years.’

‘Outplayed by Newcastle in every aspect except for goalkeeping.’
