Leicester 4 Newcastle 0 – Match ratings and comments on all the NUFC players
We asked Jonathan Drape-Comyn to give us his match ratings and player comments after Leicester 4 Newcastle 0.
A game where Newcastle United were unlucky to concede a penalty and opening goal after Maddison’s obvious dive.
A final scoreline that flattered Leicester but difficult to defend anything about this NUFC performance.
Dubravka – 5
Couldn’t do much about the goals but still conceded four.
Maybe Darlow would have let in seven.
Manquillo – 4
Gave the ball away for the final goal and looked uncomfortable for most of the game.
Needs to be upgraded in January.
Schar – 5
Hard to tell how bad he is when he’s playing next to Lascelles.
No obvious errors but the defence was all over the place.
Five is probably generous.
Lascelles – 3
Gave away the penalty.
Yes it wasn’t a pen but he left his leg there and more fool him.
Looks so out of his depth. Has to be replaced by Fernandez.
Sorry, has been a good servant and an OK captain but not good enough.
Lewis – 5
Was going to give him a 6 but you can’t play in a back four that concedes four and get a decent rating.
Didn’t do anything that wrong…but didn’t do anything right.
Shelvey – 4
Welcome Eddie Howe to the real Jonjo Shelvey.
Lethargic, wasteful and just meandered about. Useless.
Willock – 2
One of the worst players I have seen play for us.
League One standard at best.
Can anyone think of a worse CM in the PL era (Hendrick a close run mind)?
He’ll be playing non-league in five years… bet you!
Almiron – 4
Runs around like a headless chicken.
Needs to bulk up. Weak as p.ss.
Saint-Maximin – 5
At the very very least, he tries to make things happen.
Poor again today but with a better quality end product you never know.
Joelinton – 5
Gave the ball away too often but better than anyone else out there.
Wilson – 4
Did he even touch the ball?
Murphy – 4
Fraser – 4
Ritchie – N/A
(Not on long enough to judge)
