Keep playing if possible or postpone all Premier League games? Newcastle fans verdict

It is now 10 Premier League games that have been postponed in the past week.

At 12.45pm on Saturday, the Premier League releasing an announcement, saying that the Aston Villa v Burnley game has been postponed.

That game set to start at 3pm this afternoon, so only two hours notice to supporters of the two clubs.

This is shocking and surely whatever happens, they can’t be calling off games so close to matches and messing so many people about.

Last weekend we saw one (Brighton v Tottenham) of the ten Premier league matches postponed.

In midweek it was four of the ten Premier League games called off.

Now this weekend it is six of the ten postponed, at least so far, with currently as things stand, three Premier League games still going ahead today, following Arsenal’s 4-1 win at Leeds yesterday. The only one of the six scheduled Saturday matches to go ahead.

When news of the Aston Villa v Burnley match broke on Saturday afternoon, we asked Newcastle United fans the question:

‘Should all Premier League games be called off due to rising Covid cases, or keep playing matches if possible?’

The results are now in and our NUFC fans poll showed:

58% Call off all PL games for a certain time period

42% Keep playing PL games wherever possible

A fairly even split but as things stand, a majority of those Newcastle supporters voting, believing best to call off all games for a length of time.

The Premier League games cancelled so far:

Sunday 12 December

Brighton v Tottenham

Tuesday 14 December

Brentford v Man Utd

Wednesday 15 December

Burnley v Watford

Thursday 16 December

Leicester v Tottenham

Saturday 18 December

Aston Villa v Burnley

Man Utd v Brighton

Southampton v Brentford

Watford v Crystal Palace

West Ham v Norwich

Sunday 19 December

Everton v Leicester
