Gabby Agbonlahor latest Newcastle United trolling – Worth look at these previous NUFC/Steve Bruce comments

You have to credit Gabby Agbonlahor for his blind devotion shown to, and adoration for, Steve Bruce…

…because let’s face it, you can’t credit Gabby Agbonlahor with anything else.

Well, unless you are looking to name the thickest and most transparent pundit.

Here is the latest from the genius…

Gabby Agbonlahor speaking to Football Insider – 22 December 2021:

“I don’t see anything that I’m watching [from Joelinton] that shows me any quality.

“People are raving about Joelinton but how many goals has he scored?

“How many assists has he got?

“It’s alright looking busy, I just don’t understand.

“It baffles me.

“They [Newcastle United] need like 11 new players, seriously.

“Eight or nine can come straight in.

“Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin can keep their place but the rest I’d get rid of, to be honest.”

No surprise that Gabby Agbonlahor is now concentrating on Joelinton, as he is the player (though not the only one) who everybody, well fans and many in the media, is talking about as looking a totally different player under Eddie Howe, as compared to what we watched for over two years under Steve Bruce.

Now so much fitter due to not getting all the days off that Bruce gave himself and the players, plus having proper training and guidance from Eddie Howe and his coaching staff, the Brazilian clearly looks that totally different player.

Yes, Joelinton needs to score and assist more goals, BUT then you also have to give credit where it is due. Only somebody as thick and transparently trolling as Gabby Agbonlahor, would have watched recent Newcastle games and noticed Joelinton is playing so much better in a generally deeper midfield role.

Gabby Agbonlahor played under Steve Bruce and is a big friend of his, as you can see from the small selection of previous quotes below, as Newcastle fans we have had to put up with this kind of nonsense from Gabby Agbonlahor for some time, with his slavish devotion to Bruce and attempts to get noticed by winding up Newcastle fans.

The thing is, Agbonlahor can’t have it all ways.

He says that the Newcastle United team / squad now is basically useless, that they need 11 new players, with only Callum Wilson and ASM keeping their places, in the short-term.

So….Steve Bruce inherited a mid-table team from Rafa Benitez, one that had the seventh best Premier League defensive record in both 2017/18 and 2019/19. Then over the course of two and a half years, five transfer windows, £160m spent on players (according to Mike Ashley) during Bruce’s tenure, none of the squad improved as players, 14 first team signings made by Steve Bruce…we end up with a situation where NUFC have a shambles of a squad that needs 11 new players immediately and only two of current squad worth keeping for the time being.

Considering the new owners and Head Coach haven’t been able to make any changes as yet, in terms of signing players.

A question for Gabby Agbonlahor, whose fault is this mess at St James Park?

Gabby Agbonlahor – 25 March 2021:

“Everyone’s slating Steve Bruce but I back Steve Bruce.

“You look at Joelinton, he hasn’t turned up all season for Newcastle. He’s still not turning up.

“Certain players are letting him down, the likes of Ryan Fraser, the likes of Joelinton, they’re not doing anything, they’re not showing any hunger, they’re not showing any fight.”

Gabby Agbonlahor – 13 April 2021:

“I’ve said this all through the season that Steve Bruce deserved people to get off his back.

“Newcastle fans will owe Steve Bruce an apology for the way they’ve treated him.”

Gabby Agbonlahor – 20 November 2020:

“Newcastle fans are quite deluded.

“Steve Bruce is doing a great job…If Rafa Benitez had done the job Steve Bruce has done, they [Newcastle fans] would be saying he’s a tactical genius, that Rafa is doing an amazing job.”

Gabby Agbonlahor – 28 November 2021:

“Players will go there [Newcastle United, only] for the money.

“When I was playing, Newcastle was the place where you were thinking (twisting his face…) ‘Mmmmm, not sure, I don’t really want to go, that far north, the weather. I’m not sure…’

“If you offered now, a player, forty thousand pounds a week at Newcastle, or thirty thousand pounds a week at Brentford, he would go to Brentford. Even on less money.

“(With a big snide smile on his face) Players don’t want to live in Newcastle, let’s be honest.”

Gabby Agbonlahor – 1 December 2021:

“I stand by exactly what I said. If I was 25 again and offered the choice, I’d choose Brentford over Newcastle now.

“They’re going to have that problem in the January transfer window – attracting players with their league position and attracting players to go to Newcastle, they’ll have to pay them more, let’s be honest.

“Even Brentford, Watford, teams that are around Newcastle at the moment, players aren’t going to go to Watford for the same money as Newcastle – they’re going to choose Watford over Newcastle.”
