Would you wait for Rafa Benitez?

Now that Dracula (Unai Emery) has turned us down – and Eddie Howe appears scared of getting vertigo if he comes this far north – would it make sense to wait for Rafa Benitez to get the sack?

Alan Hutton suggests today that Rafa Benitez is potentially under threat at Everton.

Whilst on Talksport, Laura Woods asked Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor: “Could you see a situation where Everton let Rafa Benitez go because it’s not working and he ends up back at Newcastle?”

Agbonlahor replying: “100%, I could see that happening, yes,” whilst McCoist declared: “Anything could happen, absolutely.”

So, the question is, would you wait, say, until Christmas to get Rafa Benitez?

Would you put up with Graeme Jones until then?

Some might say that if we did nothing for the next six to eight weeks, Newcastle United would be as good as relegated by then.

However, as Kieran Maguire says (and he seems to be seen as some kind of football finance guru) relegation wouldn’t worry our owners over much – just a minor blip along the way. And we might win a few matches for a change.

If Rafa Benitez came along in January and spent £100 million on some key players (at least one centre-back, a left back, two midfielders and a back-up striker – please not Rondon) would he be able to save us?

Nothing’s certain…but it’s an attractive proposition in my view.
