It has now been revealed that Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew have left Newcastle United.

The pair stayed on after Steve Bruce was sacked after the defeat to Tottenham.

Both Agnew and Clemence assisting interim Newcastle United manager Graeme Jones.

However, The Athletic now report that after the Brighton match nine days ago and confirmation that Eddie Howe was taking the job, the pair who had both arrived with Steve Bruce back in July 2019, then left for good.

On Wednesday when interviewed after officially becoming the new Newcastle United Head Coach, Eddie Howe confirmed that Graeme Jones would remain at St James Park.

Howe saying that as well as Jones being ‘still in the mix’, he would also be adding four backroom staff from his days at Bournemouth –  Jason Tindall (assistant), Stephen Purches (first team coach), Simon Weatherstone (first team coach) and Dan Hodges (head of sport science).

Eddie Howe confirming the Newcastle United backroom team – Wednesday 10 November 2021:

“Coming with me are Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches, Simon Weatherstone and Dan Hodges.

“Graeme Jones is still in the mix and I’m delighted to work with Graeme.

“I think adding someone to my backroom team was something that I’d looked at and considered during my break and it’s something that I positively wanted to do.

“So having Graeme already here in situ and is someone I know, respect and really like, I think it’s going to be a perfect match for us.”
