Premier League release official statement on future of Gary Hoffman after Newcastle issues

On Tuesday, newspaper reports claimed that Gary Hoffman was set to be forced out of his job as Chairman of the Premier League.

The reports claiming that a number of unnamed clubs wanted Gary Hoffman out because they blamed much of the blame on him for the Newcastle United takeover going through.

As well as casting blame on him and others, for certain Premier League clubs not getting regular updates on what was happening with the NUFC takeover.

Less than twenty four hours after those newspaper reports emerged, they have proved to be very much on the money.

The Premier League releasing an official statement confirming Gary Hoffman is leaving his post.

The PL Chairman set to exit at the end of January 2022.

‘Gary Hoffman will step down as Chair of the Premier League at the end of January 2022.

Gary said: “It has been a privilege to lead the Premier League through the last two seasons – when the spirit of English football has been more important than ever.

“Now, I have decided the time is right for me to stand aside to allow new leadership to steer the League through its next exciting phase.”

The Premier League is grateful to Gary for his committed service.

He has led the League during the most challenging period in its history and leaves it in a stronger position than ever.

The process of appointing a new Chair will begin immediately.’
