Ahead of Arsenal on Saturday, there has been an official Newcastle United training update.

Newcastle set to play their fourteenth match of the season and still without a win after thirteen games, out of the League Cup and six draws and six defeats in the opening twelve Premier League matches.

Today’s Newcastle United training update from the club, confirming that Eddie Howe has not been able to take training this week due to self-isolation after testing positive for covid on Friday.

Howe’s assistant Jason Tindall had claimed that Eddie Howe could be back ahead of the Arsenal match and they were waiting on news from the ‘Doctor’, however, that optimism appears to have been diminished as on Wednesday afternoon it was also confirmed by various media that the club had told them Jason Tindall, not Eddie Howe, would be taking media duties on Friday ahead of Saturday’s match at Arsenal.

The official Newcastle United training update today, has also painted a positive picture in terms of player availability for Saturday. No reported new injuries and judging by the text (see below) and official photos from the training ground, it appears only Paul Dummett continues to be unavailable.

The official update also stating that as well as Elliot Anderson, Under 23 players Matty Bondswell, Jack Young and Dylan Stephenson have also been training with the NUFC first team squad this week.

Official Newcastle United training update – Wednesday 24 November 2021:

‘Eddie Howe has been unable to take training this week, with Newcastle United’s new head coach still self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19 on Friday, but the work continues ahead of Saturday’s trip to Arsenal.

Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones, alongside the rest of Howe’s new-look coaching staff, have been leading this week’s training sessions, with the team looking to build on several positives from last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Brentford.

Joelinton put in a bright showing against the Bees – and showed off an even brighter hairstyle on Wednesday – and Allan Saint-Maximin grabbed his third goal of the season. He was in full flow again in training, while Fabian Schär, who came off late on against Brentford, also trained and Joe Willock is hoping to keep his place in the starting XI against his boyhood club.

United’s under-23s were 3-1 winners at Nottingham Forest on Monday night, thanks to an Elliot Anderson hat-trick, and the teenager trained with the senior squad along with the likes of Matty Bondswell, Jack Young and Dylan Stephenson.’
