Official Newcastle United fitness and availability Wednesday update for Brentford match
Newcastle United have provided an official update on Wednesday, regarding fitness and availability of players for the Brentford match on Saturday.
The club report that Fabian Schar, Jamal Lewis, Emil Krafth, Jeff Hendrick and Martin Dubravka all appear fit and well and available for Saturday’s match, following their international matches.
Miguel Almiron only completed his second and final match for Paraguay in this international fortnight in the early hours of Wednesday (UK time), so he is yet to return and be assessed.
After he was missing from all the official NUFC training photos on Saturday when the squad trained at St James Park, fears were raised about Callum Wilson, but training photos released from today’s training show the striker fully involved.
In fact, when releasing those training images today, in the text (see below) to go with it, the club report that Paul Dummett is the only player definitely missing through injury against Brentford.
Ryan Fraser had to pull out of the Scotland squad due to a calf problem but Newcastle United have confirmed he is fine now and back in full training.
So the great news for Eddie Howe’s first match is that it appears only Paul Dummett will definitely not be available, though with Miguel Almiron likely to only be back in time and available for Friday’s training, it would seem unlikely that the Head Coach will consider him as a starter against Brentford.
Newcastle United official training update – 17 November 2021:
‘Having trained at St. James’ Park on Saturday, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United players have been back in Benton this week as they continue to prepare for the weekend’s clash with Brentford.
And the new head coach looks set to have a virtually full-strength squad to choose from, with only Paul Dummett on the injury list after Ryan Fraser was able to resume full training having being forced to withdraw from the Scotland squad last week with a calf problem.
The likes of Fabian Schär, Jamal Lewis, Emil Krafth, Jeff Hendrick and Martin Dúbravka all appear to have emerged unscathed from their international matches over the last few days, although Miguel Almirón played for Paraguay in Colombia on Tuesday so wasn’t involved in Wednesday’s session. ‘
