A Newcastle United official announcement on Tuesday evening has confirmed the make up of the Eddie Howe backroom staff.

The announcement basically split into three.

Firstly, confirming that Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches, Simon Weatherstone and Dan Hodges are all reunited with Eddie Howe from his Bournemouth days.

Secondly, confirmation that Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew have now left Newcastle United.

Thirdly, that Ben Dawson, Simon Smith and Graeme Jones all remain as well, having been in place before Eddie Howe arrived.

Newcastle United official announcement:

‘Newcastle United has confirmed a number of changes to its first team coaching staff following the appointment of Eddie Howe as the club’s new head coach.

Eddie has already been joined at the Newcastle United Training Centre by assistant head coach Jason Tindall, who was previously his assistant at AFC Bournemouth before taking on the managerial position.

First team coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone, who left the Vitality Stadium in June 2021 following several years of service, have also signed contracts on Tyneside.

Assistant head coach Graeme Jones, first team development coach Ben Dawson and goalkeeper coach Simon Smith all form part of Eddie’s new coaching set-up.

The club has also added to its sports science department, with Dan Hodges arriving from AFC Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, who arrived as assistants to Steve Bruce in July 2019, have left their roles after supporting Graeme Jones during an interim period.

The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Steve and Stephen and wishes them well for the future.’
