Newcastle United fans can ‘relax’ now that the biggest issue is sorted

As I keep the warm glow of Newcastle United being taken over by the financially most desirable football owners in the world, I fear we could well be relegated this season.

I don’t say this as a quitter but in the cold light of statistics that I’m not going to bore you with.

Few teams going 11 without a win, at the start, or even into a season, stay up.

I don’t think you even need complicated facts, just a view that if you are under 15 points at Christmas, it will require a divine intervention for the rest of the season.

Am I sad?

Not really to be honest, it simply underlines the neglect at the club for the past 14 years and highlights what we are rid of. The only way is up but it will take time.

My message to everyone is KEEP THE FAITH.

We are now Newcastle United from top to bottom and although the rest of the country may be developing a hatred for us, based on misguided beliefs and jealousy, we can relax knowing that things can only improve given time.

I must be honest and say I wanted a higher profile manager than Eddie Howe but that said, we are where we are, you can’t run before you can walk. He is a decent, innovative man with a good reputation and that tends to rub off on the players.

If you think of the top managers, from Jurgen Klopp’s annoying enthusiasm at Liverpool to Sir Alex Ferguson’s ruthless determination with Man Utd, teams tend to reflect their managers personality.

Is it any wonder Newcastle United became a lazy, disorganised rabble, without modern day tactics, under Steve Bruce?

We may not win the league with our manager in waiting, though maybe the Championship, however he will clean things up and insist on his belief that football is a way of life and you must throw everything at it. Some players are in for a huge shock!

Training will get tougher for an awful lot of the current squad and only the enthusiastic will survive. We will be ridiculed by other fans but stay assured in the knowledge that we will be back bigger and stronger.

So the short term future is rocky but the long term is bright. We are now as one with no excuses. Things can only get better.

Howay the lads!
