Graham Potter has been talking to the media ahead of Saturday’s match.

Brighton at home to Newcastle with a 5.30pm kick-off.

Graham Potter has been talking about Eddie Howe possibly joining up with Newcastle.

Whilst regardless of that, his close friendship with Graeme Jones is set to be tested when the two face each other at the Amex, with Howe (or whoever) unlikely to be in place in time to take charge of the Newcastle team against Brighton.

Graham Potter speaking at his pre-match Newcastle United press conference and asked about Eddie Howe potentially getting the NUFC job – 4 November 2021:

Eddie is a really experienced guy.

“He has been a fantastic Premier League manager.

“As for what Newcastle do, I have no idea and I haven’t given it much thought.

“I have only been concentrating on the team that we’re going to play against.

“Who will be led by Graeme Jones, who I know well.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him and whatever Newcastle do is their business.

“Graeme Jones is my friend and I have known him for a long time, Boston United was the first time we came across each other. We played there for a short time and kept in touch and then followed each other’s career from playing to coaching.

“I know him as a guy and as a football person…a fantastic friend who has been very supportive to me.

“I know his qualities and I know how competitive he is, how organised his team will be.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him and hopefully I can send him home a little bit unhappy.

“Though afterwards we will have a glass of wine and give each other a hug.”

The next manager market still has your name as an outsider  for the Newcastle job, can you reassure Brighton fans that it isn’t a job you are interested in…?

“It feels like pretty much any job that’s available at the moment, my name gets thrown into it.

“It must get stuck into computers or something.

“As I have said before though, I’m focused on what I’m doing here.

“I’m very happy here and as I said, I’m preparing the team for the game as well as I can, to face a team that will be fighting for points.”
