BBC Sport comments from neutrals after Brighton draw shows what Newcastle fans are up against

Intriguing to read through these BBC Sport comments following Newcastle’s draw away at Brighton.

The comments from neutrals especially telling…

This is what Newcastle United fans are up against these days.

To be fair though, compared to recent weeks when we have looked at these BBC Sport comments from neutrals, this time the total fixation with the identity of the Newcastle United owners is a fair bit less.

Indeed, even some people with positive comments about the NUFC fanbase!

Though not getting too carried away , as still plenty just looking to have a free go at Newcastle fans.

It is amusing that Newcastle fans get ridiculed for supposed deluded over the top expectations AND then when we are set to appoint a manager such as Eddie Howe, Newcastle supporters ridiculed for being happy despite Howe not having a trophy laden CV…so far.

The BBC Sport readers comments, mainly from neutrals, although the odd Brighton and Newcastle fan also contributing, tells you all you need to know about what Newcastle fans are facing now.

‘As a Southampton fan I must say that Newcastle Fans that I have met have been non violent and good fun.(If you can understand them)

I hope they get Eddie, then we will see how good both can become.

Newcastle have been for soo many years the sleeping giant, lets hope Eddie wakes them up, providing we take 6 points of them every season.

But if they went down ,they would be back next season.’

‘Shame the game ended, I wanted to see how Lewis Dunk performed in goal against the Newcastle attack.’

‘I don’t think he would have been troubled for a couple of hours or so…’

‘What’s big about a club that has gone 96 years without being league champions and 55 years without an FA cup?’

‘If Eddie Howe had gone to any other club, praise would follow for giving a young English manager a chance, however due to jealously this will not happen!’

‘I do not support Newcastle this was the cheapest penalty for years. Trossard was nudged slightly, took a step & sat down. If penalties are going to be given for this there will be dozens every match.’

‘I’ll take the point. We didn’t deserve it but Brighton should have wrapped the game up. Tough.

All the haters out as usual I see.

If we go down well that’s the way it is. We’ll be back Big and Strong. Cheque book out in January thank you. It’s obviously going to take time. Rome wasn’t built in a day as they say..’

‘No but it was burned down in a day!’

‘Not a great 2nd half performance from the Albion but if someone said at the start of the season we’d be 6th after 11 games I would have definitely taken that! Fair play to Newcastle, slightly embarrassed by our keepers challenge.

Best away fans to visit the Amex this season, hope you turn things around and stay up and look to the future. Respect…’

‘New foundations at nufc are required and it looks like they have a good English manager to help lay them down.

Nufcs future will be bright but it will take time, lots of time.

With a top quality DoF in, Howe will become a top manager at nufc

I believe that nufc will be a true footballing force and all football fans will enjoy the entertains 2.’

‘Why on Earth didn’t Newcastle shoot from the free kick, with a novice in goal who could hardly pull on the under-sized jersey and gloves? It was bizarre that they played it deep across the goal, not even into a shooting position.’

‘Awful match, the Geordie fans tried to lift their team and create some sort of atmosphere, but it was hard going. And how is Bissouma allowed to play, I get the innocent until proven guilty thing, but the fella is on bail.’

‘Newcastle will stay up. The lower end of the league is full of poor teams and a decent manager and a few players will see them ok.’

‘Newcastle have scored 12. İn total 181 goals have been scored by 15 teams from 6th to 20th position averaging 12.07 goals. The problem is not scoring but defending, a chronic malaise with Newcastle for decades.’

‘Apart from the time when Rafa had the 7th best defence (both of his NUFC seasons) in the Premier League. Steve Bruce, with largely the same defenders, managed to concede 30% more goals than Rafa.’

‘Embarrassing as a Brighton fan today, half hearted pedestrian performance and silent fans. Sing up Brighton ffs!’

‘Eddie howe

Its like they win the lottery and bought a Nissan Micra.’

‘Jones again failed to grasp that you need the ball, to win a Game. how he kept his job and you sacked Bruce is way beyond me.’

‘Newcastle – doomed. the only club with a ZERO in the wins column.’

‘Massively disappointing for football that Brighton could only draw against the Saudi sportswash project.’

‘If you are so against massive funding of (certain) football clubs, I’m surprised you watch the Premier League at all.’

‘Newcastle used to be a fair few people’s favourite 2nd club.

Now everyone who doesn’t support them wish them to go down.

Strange how we can change our minds at times, however not so much I suppose when a club is purchased by people with dubious backgrounds.’

‘I remember the day Ashley bought Newcastle alot of their fans slated him before he had a chance calling him the London Mafia because he was not from Newcastle and did not understand Newcastle.

Funny how these same fans are not saying the same with these owners I wonder why £££££££

Then again the toxics loved Rafa who lost more games than Bruce ever did in a full season in the prem no sense at all.’

‘Oh Please Eddie Howe, Do you really want the Newcastle Job, Are you ready for getting the blame for everything?? Such a good honest manager as Steve Bruce was..

Dont forget the Fans run the club, but GOOD LUCK anyway…..’

‘I just wonder what is going to make Newcastle fans happy. He’s a great coach/Manager and he will do a great job for you. Start backing and supporting your team and management and you might get back to where you once were.’
