Newcastle United takeover – 10 things it is definitely going to deliver
Newcastle United takeover was yet again back in the headlines on Wednesday afternoon.
However, very disconcertingly, the talk wasn’t all negative, as in, it wasn’t all ‘this is why the Newcastle United takeover isn’t going to happen’ in any of our lifetimes.
Instead, whisper it very quietly, by the end of the afternoon it was all very much about why it is very likely to happen!
Saudi Arabia have basically backed down, completely, agreeing to pay compensation to beIN Sports, committing to stopping all TV piracy within their borders, as well as also agreeing to ensuring the citizens of Saudi Arabia can all now access beIN Sports.
Something which is of course massively important to beIN Sports, as they have committed to a massive amount of money to once again have the rights to show Premier League football in the region, a region where Saudi Arabia is the biggest market.
Anyway…trying not to get too excited…but by late Wednesday afternoon it became clear that this Newcastle United takeover looks very much on!
Journalists who have consistently said they couldn’t ever see it happen if it included the Saudis…now suddenly indicating they have been briefed by informed sources as to this is very much going to now happen, very probably.
Newcastle United fans have of course been all over this Wednesday update, especially as confidence built rapidly amongst the media as to the potential of the NUFC takeover now going ahead.
Newcastle supporters enjoying this rare moment of positivity and as part of that having a laugh on social media, about the ‘imminent’ signings of Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappe.
This leading to certain journalists and fans of other clubs, taking the banter of NUFC supporters far too seriously…
Anyway, after this Newcastle United takeover is completed, here are 10 things it is positively / definitely going to deliver:
No more Mike Ashley
Nothing like stating the obvious but just how sweet does that sound?
Not guaranteed trophies, not guaranteed buying the best players in the world, not guaranteed brilliant football…#
Just hope of potentially better things to come.
No more Steve Bruce
Never mind his football, tactics, team selection, negativity, style…
Just imagine a world without NUFC Steve Bruce press conferences?
Wanting to go to the match
The most fundamental thing about supporting Newcastle United for so many of us.
Yet, the ongoing ownership of Mike Ashley, making it so difficult / impossible for so many of us to bear to go to St James Park.
No more Lee Charnley
Somebody who can’t be forgotten, an absolute disgrace who has been so happy to take Mike Ashley’s money and who has treated the Newcastle fans with such contempt.
Charnley quite happy to sit there like Steve Bruce and be a deflection of the criticism on behalf of Ashley.
Wanting Newcastle United to win
Sounds obvious BUT this hasn’t been the ‘obvious’ for so many fans in recent times.
Countless Newcastle supporters ending up in a position where they think, is it better that NUFC lose every match to hopefully force a positive change of ownership?
Fingers crossed this will now soon be a distant dark memory.
Maybe other clubs are similar BUT there is no other Premier League club where the locals more strongly see the pride in city and football club so entwined.
Newcastle United had become such an embarrassment, it caused such pain for so many people when it came to pride in their football club and by association their city.
Looking forward to that all becoming history.
Maybe one of the biggest disgraces that Mike Ashley has visited on our football club, is his treatment of people like Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan.
The two greatest living NUFC legends, they should have the freedom of St James Park and will have no doubt under new ownership, not be the subject of spiteful PR spin campaigns by the club’s owner.
Wearing the colours
In the past, very very few clubs outsold Newcastle United when it came to replica kit.
Mike Ashley has ground down people so far, that the vast majority refused to buy any official merchandise.
Imagine being desperate to buy kit from the club because you know that money will benefit Newcastle United? Bring it on!
We’re coming for you
All of those people, fans of other clubs especially, who have taken such great delight in year after year of NUFC misery.
No more. A Newcastle United takeover will see the black and whites attempting to be the very best they can be.
