‘Just show Steve Bruce what Big Jack Charlton did when Newcastle United Manager’

I fully understand the emotions surrounding who has the privileged position of being Newcastle United Manager / Head Coach.

Whilst we have an attendance figure of 52,000 level headed fans with a passion for stylish and entertaining football, I believe there are at least double this in the immediate fan base who would love to attend matches week in week out, if all other factors were reasonable.

Therefore, there will be many fans positive towards the incumbent manager, equally many negative to this incumbent.

If the new owners of my business had a bottomless pit of money for investment, by nature, I’d do my utmost to be dignified, professional and discreet in all my dealings, significantly if this meant my biggest stakeholder, the fans, were part of (and being) my own tribe.

I’d wish to impress with diplomacy, positivity, and strong leadership, I’d even seek a personality transplant to honour this role requirement.

This doesn’t seem to be happening in October 2021 at NUFC.

As a passionate, loyal, and hopefully fair minded fan, I’d like to just highlight another similar situation.

Jack Charlton resigned in August 1985, the fans did not crucify Big Jack and continued to hold him in highest esteem as he moved onwards and upwards to lead the Irish national team through unprecedented success.

I have huge respect for the late Jack Charlton, I will never have the same respect for Steve Bruce, as it is very obvious why he is hanging around.

To balance this up and put the situation into perspective, Kevin Keegan was treated abhorrently when Newcastle United manager by the previous owners at NUFC and had to fight in a dignified manner to attain, deservedly, a constructive dismissal compensation payment of a published £2m amount.

It has been said the current incumbent may be rewarded to the sum of £8m for clear failures in performance, whilst having a reasonable re-investment fund and structure to work within.

No signs of a poisoned cockney dwarf…

He’s been treated fairly by Ashley and PIF and needs to learn how to do the right thing.

Just show him what Big Jack did.
